This was my third stay at Mountain Lake Lodge, and somehow I fall more in love with it each time. I brought my dad along this trip while visiting our daughter at Virginia Tech, and it was such a memorable experience. The setting is breathtaking — from the peaceful hiking trails to the cozy bar and welcoming atmosphere, everything feels so warm and genuine. The staff always make you feel at home, and there’s something about this place that just slows life down in the best way. I’d love to come back with my whole family and stay in one of the larger cabins — I can even picture my kids getting married here one day!

We were there for a beautiful wedding. The views were amazing and we were there at the perfect time to enjoy the leaves. Their customer service was wonderful. I stopped by the front desk numerous times and they were able to quickly help me each time. Chelsea set up Mary's Barn for us and was absolutely fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed winding down by the fire pit every evening and got to visit with lots of different friends and family there.

Our girls’ trip at Mountain Lake Lodge this past weekend has us already excited to come back for future stays. Being an avid Dirty Dancing fan my whole life, I literally had the time of my life making memories with my friends at all of the lodge’s filming locations. I loved how the lodge leans into the fans’ excitement with the placards of info at each set. We had a blast completing the Dirty Dancing scavenger hunt and even bought some Kellerman’s gear! The staff are also awesome. Joanna, the manager at registration, truly made our stay so much better. We love her. Shayna and Andy from the Outfitters are also wonderful. Talk to them at the shop and take their tour to Blueberry Ridge! I can’t wait to be back!

Movie history comes alive. on every spot you walk, you see and feel the scenes of dirty dancing. had chestnut lodge, 2 queen size beds. well furnished with chairs and couch, also small balcony. no room service. lounge with fireplace is very cosy. friendly staff. around christmas you'll see many lights, colored trees etc.

We just had a fun “snowy” visit to Mountain Lake Lodge with a group of friends. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the food was delicious. The entire staff was fantastic and made us feel welcome from our arrival to our departure. Huge shout out to Joanna, Chelsea, and Victor. We will be back!

The 4 stars for location was just because the road leading up to the lodge is a very twisty-turny mountain road that, personally, I found scary and wondered many times "why???" would someone build up that high and god bless those who work there and drive it daily! But a beautiful lodge (the lake is currently gone - read up on the cycle of it!) and very quiet for our stay (mid-Oct)

Went for a Dirty Dancing weekend. The room was beautiful but the A/C unit was broken. They said they were planning to close the room after we left. The staff was all very friendly but the wait staff seemed to all be working their first weekend so the dining service left a bit to be desired; however, the food was delicious. Lots of hiking trails! The hike to Bald Knob is a must-do and if you're comfortable in flip flops, the fire access road will get you to the top. Hiking boots recommended for the trails though. FYI, there isn't a lake anymore, at least not one you can see/swim in at the resort. Overall, the location and ambience were good but I'm not sure there was enough to justify the $1,600 price tag. You can visit the property without staying. We ran into a bunch of day hikers.

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner at Mountain Lake Lodge. The lodge staff and the team at Harvest were outstanding—warm, attentive, and truly committed to creating a great experience. Our group of four enjoyed fresh mixed green salads, delicious homemade soups, perfectly grilled red snapper over risotto, and expertly prepared 21‑day aged steaks with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Pre‑dinner cocktails, Virginia wines, and custom espresso made the evening even better. The atmosphere was unforgettable. The working 1930s fireplace added a nostalgic touch of Christmas magic that made the night feel truly special. Highly recommend Mountain Lake Lodge and Harvest for an exceptional dining experience.

We really enjoyed our learning experience led by Scott in the reptile house/nature center. He shared so much knowledge on the creatures he keeps. Also the holiday lights and music were absolutely beautiful. We had dinner and drinks at Harvest and the Mai Chai was a yummy winter twist on a fave tropical beverage. I had the Mushroom Gnocci and it was excellent. Will definitely visit again!
